Russ Albright engages in virtually all aspects of federal income, estate and gift taxes, as well as state income, franchise, sales, use and property tax.  He advises on state and federal tax planning, transactions, entity formation and restructuring, sales and liquidation, and business succession.

Russ has represented sellers and buyers of businesses in a variety of situations from tax-free transactions, private equity, cash versus stock transactions. He advises on tax matters from start-ups to roll-ups into public corporations. In most instances he advises solely on the tax aspects of an acquisition or sale, however, he sometimes takes a larger role with corporate and transactional aspects.

He has advised entrepreneurs, business owners and executives from the following areas: restaurants, oil and gas, home builders, real property developers, attorneys, physicians, pediatricians, anesthesiologists, podiatrists, emergency-room physicians, and dentists.

A significant part of Russ’ practice has been forming and representing non-profit entities for the acquisition and development of affordable housing, private schools, and retirement communities. He has advised non-profits on the utilization of tax-credits and tax-exempt bond financing. Russ has been an expert panelist at several National Association of Local Housing Finance Agencies (NALHFA) national conferences on the topic of The Differences of Tax-Exempt Financing of Affordable Housing Versus Financing Continuing Care Retirement Communities.

Russ’s advice is not just from an academic perspective; he has been the co-owner of three multi-family communities and developer of an 81-unit townhome community. In addition, he was executive vice president and general counsel for a boutique investment banking firm and a small independent oil and gas exploration company.

Russ is a member of the Bars of the Supreme Courts of California and Oklahoma and the US Tax Court; the American Bar Association (Tax Law Section); The Desert Bar Association, and the Desert Estate Planning Council.

Russ earned an LL.M. in Taxation at New York University; a J.D. at the University of Oklahoma; and a B.A. in History, at the University of Oklahoma. He earned an M.A in Missions and a Master of Divinity at Abilene Christian University.  He served as a missionary in Toulouse France for five years.
