Estate Planning, Wills and Trusts
Sparkman + Foote lawyers advise clients on the personal, legal, and tax aspects of estate planning, including wills and trusts, and disposition of assets while you are living. We recognize the importance of clearly understanding what our clients want to achieve with their assets during and after their lifetimes.
Probate and Trust Administration
When the time comes, we assist personal representatives and heirs in the probate administration process, helping to bring understanding to an often-misunderstood process and to make a difficult time less difficult and stressful.
Wealth Preservation
We have a strong history of estate planning for asset protection, otherwise called “wealth preservation”, and work well in conjunction with your wealth management adviser.
Pre-Marital and Marital Agreements
When you are planning marriage or a long-term relationship together and one of you has substantially greater assets than the other, we believe you should consider including in your planning an agreement dealing with the assets each of you bring to the relationship.
Such an agreement addresses both those assets and the assets you build together during the relationship, as well as thoughtful planning for what should happen in the event the relationship ends. A pre-marital agreement should not be viewed in any way as a lack of trust in each other or in the strength of your relationship, but as evidence of mature and clear-eyed planning, just as you plan your personal future together taking account of each other’s personal, career, and family desires and goals and plan your financial future bearing in mind your financial goals and the obstacles that may arise in meeting those goals. We are skilled in facilitating these sensitive discussions.
